The journey to 25 has been quite the ride! Here is a little lifeline and my own proof that life is what you make of it and always be grateful, no matter what! :)
- My parents divorced when I was 3... My Dad raised us, and he was the best parents we could have ever asked for... and still is! :)
- My first through 7th grade pictures would crack you up to no end... I have been the definition of ugly duckling, freckle faced, four eyed geek, WITH braces and crazy hair to boot. I have since had the oppurtunity to model for brochures, magazines, and stock photography... and been offered to compete as Miss Pennsylvania. (So if you're a dork, DIG IT!). ;)
- Kindergarten through college, I was an "A" average student in a small town... Most assumed I would spend the next life in college becoming something equivalent to a doctor or an accountant... At age nineteen, I saw little value in money and the mandatory education spoof, and felt my time would be better spent becoming educated through travels and real life experiences... I became a wanderer doing volunteer work. Riding a different wave has allowed me to see almost every state, numerous countries, and helped me discover my passions: travel, pets, farming, and the obvious, photography!
- At age 25, I have a dog child here in Maui... I have family that I miss, but keep in touch with, I have brothers who have made me a proud Aunt, I have friends whom I've reconnected with after all these years, and new ones that I feel fortunate to meet. I sell homes, make pictures, and am writing my book, (which is accepted for publication!!!). =]
Some of the ways I felt especially special on my birthday:
Tommy got me a half dozen of my favorite NY style everything bagels! I had junk in my teeth when he took this. =)
Then we went to the park down the street to play with Lono... =)
He wanted to know what I wanted for dinner. I said, "Let's go to the grocery store and figure out something neither one of us have made before and make it from scratch." Veggie spring rolls and chow mein, and they turned out AWESOME, (and we had so much fun)! If you know me, you know I LOVE to cook. ;-)
I found these notes in my dresser drawers and by my computer, as well as got this wonderful homemade card with a drawing of me on my upcoming solo birthday camp trip. Love it!
I adore the cards and ecards I got, like this one from my good friend Mitch and his adorable daughter, Addy! (We actually share the same birthday). It plays "The Hampster Dance"! =)
And of course, the hundreds of wonderful birthday wishes I received from my wonderful facebook friends and family!
I leave on the 5th for my birthday camping journey... I'm SO EXCITED! Stay tuned, and if you haven't already, check out Queen B. Photography on Facebook. Mahalo!
After writing this blog, I found out that a warm, wonderful, incredibly kind-hearted, and absolutely hilarious person that I knew from my younger days passed away. It was a terrible accident after his friends wedding and he was killed by a train. My heart remains in my throat... as he was only 24 years old with so much more happiness and joy to spread. My sincerest and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Brad Timbrook of the Hampshire County Police Department. Your smile will never be forgotten... R.I.P.
